Through perception of latent impressions

Comes knowledge of previous incarnations

What runs on others mind.

Of one's past actions

Gains one knowledge of his body's end

By watching inauspicious portent

Concentration on qualities like compassion

Strengthens such disposition.

Through concentration can one gain

Strength elephantine.

One gains knowledge of that star far.

Gets one, knowledge of physical regime.

On absorption on the hollow of one's throat

Gains one freedom from thirst

On concentration on throat and cavity

Becomes one calm and steady.

On the head when there is absorption

Begets one. of saints vision.

On concentration and absorption

Everything gets known by intuition

The Self and the quality of clarity,

Each is a distinct entity.

The qualities, the Self does not make.

Self exists for its own sake.

On absorption on the Self

Gains one awareness of the same.

Thence arises knowledge intuitive

Senses becoming super sensitive

Absorption state attainments

Are normal state obstacles

Continuous absorption

Causes bondage disintegration

Thus freed mind

Can with another bind.

Controlling vital air within

One can begin

To walk on thorn or water

Or move in space outer

On controlling vital air

One radiates

On absorption on the link between ears ansd space

Attains one the capacity to hear distant and subtle voice.

On absorption on the link between body and space

Attains one lightness of cotton to move in space

State of awareness beyond the body one attains

And the veil on light dissipates

On absorption on elements, gross and subtle

Attains one over them, total control

(Commentary)

 

|| 3.45 ||

Thence becomes one minute

Body unaffected by any attribute

|| 3.46 ||

Strength, good form and beauty

These then are the endowments of that body.

On absorption on sense perception

Its nature and underlying causes

Governing principles and specific functions,

Gains one control over senses

Thence speed of mind one attains

And 'senseless' perception he gains

On nature total control he obtains.

|| 3.49 ||

The one who is clear

That Self and purity differ

Gains omnipresence

And omniscience.

Such gains, when renounced

Seeds of evil get weakened

One is now an awakened.

On such renunciation

There is, of seeds of bondage, elimination

When the celestials tempt one with gain

Devoid of pride, one should refrain.

Lest unwelcome thoughts resurface again

Absorption on moments and their succession

Brings about absolute clarity through discrimination

|| 3.54 ||

Such discrimination delivers

Knowledge of objects similar

That otherwise is not clear

By their position in space, class or character

Such discrimination

Gives knowledge through intuition

There is always comprehension

About all objects and all their modifications.

|| 3.56 ||

When perceiver and the perceived attain equal purity.

There is Samadhi.
